Maypole dancing for May Day Celebrations in the Nature table. Dancing around the Maypole.

Celebrating the arrival of Spring,
these beautiful merry making dancers hold a ribbon each to danced around the Maypole
while Mother Earth is watching them.
They love to dance and sing.
It's a day for feasting, singing, music making and dancing!
In Maypole dancing
the dancers weave the ribbons on to the pole in different directions
creating complex pattern with all the colors.
When all the ribbons have been woven
they reverse the path of the dance to unwind the ribbons.
It is such a great fun!
'We're dancing, we're dancing
Around the Maypole high.
In colors of the rainbow
Our ribbons do fly.
Dear children, take a ribbon please.
Today May flowers all are we.
Around, around, around,
A garland we do weave'.
Mother Earth and all her girls after their dancing!
After all the merry dancing around the Maypole,
Mother Earth finds a quiet moment to do some spinning with her drop spindle
while her black kitten plays with a ball of wool.

Note: all the dancers and Mother Earth are for selling at my Etsy shop. Please, have a look at them if you are interested.

Etsy Shop and King Winter

Oh dear, nearly a whole year has passed and i haven't written anything in the blog...
I do apologize!
Fortunately not writing in the blog doesn't mean that i haven't been busy making lots and lots of things.
The latest is opening my shop on Etsy
Finally i have managed to do it and if you are interested please just go to my shop and you will find everything there.
Still working on it and listing things but it is open! Hooray!!!
My latest creations, apart from making quite a few mice and hares, have been these two amazing King Winters.
They went to two very special families which i'm sure will enjoy them immensely.
Please, have a look at the pictures.

The first one is a little simpler than the other, as he's going to a family with three young children, in fact the youngest one was born over Christmas, near the Three Kings Day therefore his name is Caspar.
I believe King Winter and Caspar will be special for each other.
King Winter, you can't hardly see his blue eyes.
Their tunics are made out of grey/silver cloth, their icy coveralls and crowns are 100% wool felt, capes are white silk and hair merino and silk wool. I used Swiss cotton jersey for their heads and hands.

The next one, though very similar to the first one, was created for a very special girl, she is 9 now. Keeping her in mind I have added just a few  more details, for example the beads for his hair are beautifully carved, in his cape and crown there are more beads, etc.

She has amazing skills at creating beautiful nature tables, I'm sure King Winter will assist her well from now on.

As always, keep in touch and let me know what you think. I'm always happy to hear from you!

And if you'd like one of these magical Kings, please get in contact with me, they are not in my shop yet but i can always make one JUST for YOU!

Warm wishes,
Yolanda

Dolls in need

Many years ago, when my daughters were young, we used to bring the dolls from the Kindergarten to our home, to spend the summer with us.
They will always get a bath, their clothes will be mended or sometimes they would get new ones, then a visit to the hairdresser and the doctor.

We loved having them with us!

Then, one day before school started they would go back to KG, excited and ready to meet the children.

Hope you enjoy the pictures from one of those times.
She was very lucky, she got new hair that summer and she loved it!
Don't forget if your doll ever needs a doctor,
new clothes, a haircut or new hair
 you can always contact me,
I love giving all my love and care to dolls in need.

warm wishes, Yolanda.

Easter Hares

Easter is here and I've been busy making hares!
This year I’ve worked hard to really make a hare, not a rabbit. Why? Well I love rabbits but I believe a hare is the true image for Easter as their qualities are very different.

Did you know that hares and rabbits though from the same family they are different species?

Hares are larger, have longer ears and are more solitary and tougher than rabbits.
Newborn hares are fully developed at birth, they are furred, with eyes open and are able to fend for themselves within a few hours of their birth.
They don't build their homes in burrows like rabbits instead they build forms, little nests in the ground.
Independence is a strong quality of a hare.
Hares symbolize rebirth, life, regeneration and resurrection.

Look below if you want to read the Easter hare story.

Happy Easter to you all,

Yolanda
